Keynote & General Session Speakers

Stephen Dubner
Co-author of Freakonomics and Superfreakonomics

After Stephen Dubner profiled the economist Steven Levitt in The New York Times Magazine, he and Levitt were beset by queries and riddles – from General Motors and the New York Yankees and U.S. Senators but also from parents, prisoners, and a man who sold bagels on an honor-payment scheme. That’s when Dubner and Levitt decided to team up and write the book that became Freakonomics.

An award-winning author, journalist, and TV personality, Dubner has been an editor and writer at The New York Times, taught English at Columbia University, appeared regularly on Good Morning America and World News Tonight, and, in college, he started a rock band that was signed to Arista Records. He is the author of two previous books, Choosing My Religion and Confessions of a Hero-Worshiper, as well as a children’s book, The Boy With Two Belly Buttons.

Discovering Tableau in 2007 while he was CIO of Blastrac Global – Dan became a raving fan after successfully deploying a global BI solution utilizing Tableau. These early successes lead to a webinar, a white paper and his speaking at the first two Tableau User Conferences.

After that, Dan started to receive calls from people asking if he could help them achieve similar success with Tableau. So, in 2008 he joined InterWorks Inc. to help other people plan Tableau rollouts, design effective visualizations and provide training to new Tableau customers. He enjoys developing solutions that help his clients achieve unique insights, discover new opportunities, or solve problems more quickly.

Dan’s background includes 28+ years of experience in accounting & finance, technology, operations, planning, and project management in North America, Europe and Asia.
